Yes you heard it right. The regional parties are on the backseat this time. Unlike last elections where all the smaller parties demanded and got their part of flesh, this time it is Congress decides and the smaller parties listen. Why? No other way for the smaller parties.
This is the power of democracy. It is the people of India who decides what should their rulers do.
